This award-winning book shop has been serving books in Brighton for over 40 years. The shop stocks work for both adults and children, with an emphasis on literary fiction. They are also the main UK distributor for The Bookroom Art Press, the specialist publisher of 20th century British Art by artist such as Eric Ravilious and Edward Bawden. If you are looking for cards or gifts, the shop also stocks a wide range of beautiful cards and stationary.

The Book Nook

If you have a young bookworm in your life, The Book Nook in Hove is a perfect place to look for a gift, browse the shelves, or hang out in their child-friendly café. The shop often hosts author events too, where children can meet their favourite authors, listen to readings from new books, or take part in book-themed craft sessions.

City Books

This great independent book shop was started by Paul and Inge Sweetman and has been a favourite in Brighton ever since, twice nominated for ‘Independent Bookshop of the Year Award.’ They often host writers and speakers, and have had many guests including Vic Reeves, Nick Cave, Will Self and Jo Brand attend readings and signings. They are also the official sponsor and bookseller of Charleston Festival every year. This shop is truly the centre of all things literary.

With its distinctive pink façade, Books for Amnesty is a key stop for anyone looking for an amazing selection of second-hand books. You may also be able to find new stock for low prices making this an excellent spot for hunting out bargains. Whether you are looking for a new title, or a classic, there will always be something interesting to pick up at Dave’s Comics.
