  4. The Top 5 Comedy Nights in Brighton

Brighton is famous for a lot of things - its beach, its nightlife and its quirky shops, to name a few! - and it also boasts an excellent comedy scene. If you’re in need of knee-slapping gags (see what we did there?), or just want to catch some great comedy, we’ve got a list of the best regular comedy nights in Brighton.

The Secret Comedy Club

8 - 10.30PM at Artista, 42 Waterloo Street, Brighton, BN3 1AY

The Artista Café & Gallery, a cute little café/bar based just off the seafront in Hove, was recently voted Best Fringe Venue - probably because it’s much cozier than most comedy clubs. As well as hosting regular exhibitions and artist nights, the venue is the home of The Top Secret Comedy Club!

Every Friday and Saturday night, secrecy is the name of the game; book your tickets well in advance because this is where the big names of stage and screen come when they’re in Brighton. HOWEVER, the club only releases the names of the comics on their Instagram page on the day of the performance - exciting!

Tickets start at £5 and you can book them here

See You Next Tuesday

From 8PM at Artista, 42 Waterloo Street, Brighton, BN3 1AY

Staying with Artista for now, every Tuesday from 8PM you’ll get the chance to see budding comedians live or die (or ‘bomb’, as they say in the biz), with up to 15 comedians getting a 5 min slot to try out their best new material - you can even have a go yourself if you fancy your chances, plus occasionally TV comics and top names pop in to test stuff out.

Inclusive and friendly, this is also where they find acts for paid gigs on the weekends and for Brighton Fringe Festival!

You can buy tickets (from £5) in advance here or get them on the door if you’re lucky!

Komedia Comedy Club

From 8PM at Komedia, 44-47 Gardner Street, Brighton, BN1 1UN

Komedia is the place for live performance in Brighton, winner of the Chortle Award for Best Comedy Venue (South) in 2023 and Winner of Best Venue in the South a record 17 times! It has cabaret, kids’ entertainment and, of course, comedy.

Every Friday and Saturday night The Komedia Comedy Club brings Britonians the best from the circuit, with an MC and three top acts - previous acts include Tom Ward, Zoe Lyons, Maisie Adam, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Jordan Brookes, Shazia Mirza, Olga Koch, Rosie Jones, Laura Lexx, Jarred Christmas, Sara Barron, Jeff Innocent and many more!

Tickets start from £21 with dinner and drink packages available: Book well in advance! Book here!

The Forge Comedy Club

8PM - 10.30PM at 30 Cheapside, Brighton and Hove, Brighton BN1 4GD

On a recent visit, Romesh Ranganathan called The Forge Comedy Club “Probably the best Comedy Club in Brighton, if not the UK”!

The purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility has played host to Russell Kane, Sara Pascoe, Stephen K Amos, Zoe Lyons, Marcus Brigstocke, Jen Brister, Maisie Adam, Joel Dommett, Jen Ives, Josh Jones and many more!

Down the Hatch at Komedia

From 7PM at Komedia, 44-47 Gardner Street, Brighton, BN1 1UN

Brighton is the queer capital of the UK, and is host to a dedicated LGBTQ+ comedy night; on the second Sunday of every month, punters go “down the hatch” and into Komedia’s intimate Basement space to delight in a world of inclusivity and unconventionality hosted by MC Lee Peart, full-to-the-brim with the very best in alternative comedy and drag!
