Inventive Productions offers the UK’s most popular immersive cocktail experiences, bringing theatre and mixology together to create a memorable night out. They have Alcotraz: Cell Block’s across the country as well as the fantasy themed Avora, and their western spin, Moonshine Saloon. 

Alcotraz is a theatrical cocktail experience, where you’re at the centre of a booze smuggling bonanza. This is a BYOB ticketed evening where you book a time slot, don your orange jumpsuit, take your mugshot, and ‘smuggle in’ your spirit of choice, which a nifty team of mixologists will use to come up with cocktails to your taste. 

The whole experience is a riot. The actors are hilarious, and have a knack for inviting you into the performance in a way that feels easy and comfortable to engage with. 

The cocktail aspect is deceptively ambitious and consistently well executed. Some of the most rewarding moments behind the bar come from having that freedom to get creative off the back of vague requests like “vodka-based, somewhat fruity, and a little bit festive”. This is the standard for the mixologists at Alcotraz - they don’t know what spirit nor flavour profile they have to work with until you ‘sneak’ your booze in and tell them.

It’s a fantastic way to get rid of the odds and ends of the bottle collection that you never quite know what to do with. It could be the pumpkin spice rum that inexplicably materialised at the back of the cupboard, or the gifted slivovitz from your uncle's trip to Croatia: you’ll leave Alcotraz with divine inspiration and a lighter bottle.
