The founders behind Cut Your Wolf Loose (CYWL) had a vision for a bar that celebrates whisky without all the pomp and posturing, and the result is refreshing. It’s a real love for whisky made home in a community-feel, graffiti-scribbled venue (cool side note: leaving your own mark is encouraged!)

Ultimately the star of the show is the team - personable with a wealth of whisky knowledge and more than happy to talk you through your next selection. There’s a cosy downstairs area for a more private feel, but staying street level is preferred if you’re down to make friends - fellow punters and staff alike. The sort of casual, open vibe that CYWL fosters is a real rarity, incentivised by that shared interest that’s brought us all here - the whisky. 

When owner, Seb Woolf, set out his vision for this one-of-a-kind whisky bar back in 2020, he described a place where you’d be able to “sample a singular moment and flavour from that particular whisky at that particular moment in time.” The concept was simple - house a wide selection of casks from a variety of quality distillers, and draw bottles from this stock as and when - providing a shifting snapshot of that whiskies evolution through time. A bottle from this specific cask a year ago will have a different flavour profile than one taken today. 

There’s also small-batch offerings from across the world - stuff you won’t find in the supermarket. Of course, the cocktail list is whisky-based with the exciting opportunity to swap out for your preferred whisky. Your non-whisky enthusiast mates you’ve managed to drag here have a rotating selection of cans and soft-drinks to choose from, but undoubtedly there’s a dram here to make them crack, and the team will help you find it.
