Jazz Connections: Emma Rawicz INKYRA
Up-and-coming jazz star Emma Rawicz is bringing her innovative musical project, Inkyra, to Brighton Dome, supported by Squint.
“A name on everyone's lips right now.” Julian Joseph, BBC Radio 3
This will be the third concert of Brighton Dome's Jazz Connections, and it's set to be a stunner, with young talent Emma Rawicz at the helm. Winner of Jazz Newcomer of the Year at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2022 at just 20 years old, this London-based saxophonist has exploded onto the scene.
Her project, Inkyra, brings together five other talented jazz musicians - Gareth Lockrane, David Preston, Scottie Thompson, Kevin Glasgow and Jamie Murray - to combine an eclectic mix of prog rock, 60's psychedelia and expansive melodicism into something truly striking and inventive.
Supported by Squint, a buzzy improv Manchester jazz quintet weaving together post-bop sounds, funk, hip-hop and EDM: it's to be a gig to remember.
