The Shimmering Screen: Launch Night

The Shimmering Screen presents a programme of short films by transgender and non-binary artists that each engage with aesthetic experimentation in different but significant ways - this is a selection of radical reclamations of the self through film and video.

The Shimmering Screen is a brand new multi-platform project collating years of research into the aesthetics of representing trans bodies in film, video and cinema spaces from artist J Taylor-Jones, spanning writing, film screenings and moving image work.

This screening is the project's launch event, and is intended to introduce trans and cis audiences alike to new ways of thinking about representing differences in gender on screen and the potential thatcinema holds to aid trans filmmakers in representing their euphoria, dysphoria and often abstract experiences.
