Did you know that our very own Volks Electric Railway is the oldest working electric railway in the world? What a wonderful piece of history to have on our doorstep. Find out more this Saturday as VERA celebrates 30 years of volunteer work to keep the railway running.

The day will kick off at 11am with Punch and Judy performances - fun for all the family - until 3pm. Their Viewing Gallery will also be open throughout the day, giving a rare insight into the inner workings of this mechanical marvel. Watch engineers at work, see the model railway, and discover more about the history of Volks Electric Railway, with VERA members on hand to answer any questions.

The trains will be running a special illuminated service - ‘Sunset Special Trains’ from 7pm until 9pm, just perfect for taking in the Brighton coastline as the sun sets.

All donations received will be allocated to Volk's Railway Heritage Projects, and please note that while no booking is required for the event, you must purchase a ticket at the Black Rock or Aquarium Station to ride the train.
