Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival 2018

16 November 2018 –  25 November 2018 |

hcmf// is the UK’s leading platform for British and international contemporary art forms, encompassing new music, experimental and electronic music, visual art, sound art and improvisation.

Surging into its fifth decade with a 10-day programme of 50+ dawn-to-dusk concerts, installations and unexpected creative collisions, the 2018 edition features internationally acclaimed visual artist and composer Christian Marclay as Composer in Residence.

Renowned for creating cult 24-hour film The Clock – currently showing at Tate Modern - Marclay began his career as an experimental DJ in New York in the 1970s and is known for his work exploring the fusion of fine art and audio cultures, transforming sounds and music into a visible, physical form through performance, collage, sculpture, installation, photography and video.

The wide-ranging Marclay residency at hcmf// features an exhibition, performances of graphic scores, collaborations, improvisations and the world premiere of Investigations, a score created from 100 photographs for 20 pianists and 20 pianos!

Special £4 tickets are available for 17 – 29 year olds at all hcmf// events (limited availability, must be pre-booked) and on Monday 26 November there’s a whole day of FREE music.
