Virginia Woolf: an exhibition inspired by her writings at Pallant House Gallery

Pallant House Gallery celebrates the work and ideas of Virgina Woolf, featuring 80 female artists from 1854 to the present day.

26 May 2018 –  16 September 2018 | Visit website

From 26 May to 16 September, Pallant House Gallery, Chichester will be honouring pioneering novelist Virginia Woolf, paying homage to the perspectives on feminism and ideas around landscape, domesticity and identity that recur in her writings. Through an inspired curation of works from 80 female visual artists working in photography, painting, sculpture and film from 1854 to the present day, the exhibition explores four key themes: landscape and place, ‘a room of one’s own’, the self in public and the self in private.

With Sussex having accommodated Virginia Woolf and her husband, and provided the country outpost for the illustrious Bloomsbury Group, Pallant House Gallery is an especially apt location for this poignant tribute.

Breathing new life into her legacy, Virginia Woolf: an exhibition inspired by her writings is your chance to witness a synergy between Woolf and an ever-growing community of female creators.
