Music Top Picks: Brighton’s Music Festivals

26 February 2019 | Rosa Johnston-Flint

Escape to Brighton (or stay put if you live there!) for some truly iconic music festivals this year

Spotlight on: Great Escape Festival

Sick of the same songs looping on Spotify? This festival could be just the antidote to musical monotony, with a healthy dose of new music from the freshest and fiercest talents around. Some 500 emerging artists from across the world will convene at the nation's favourite seaside resort to rock 30-odd venues across the city, as well as on the beach itself – all within walking distance, or dancing distance depending on your preferred method of travel.

See your new favourite acts before they’re snapped up for the headline spots on major festival main stages, way back where you have to squint to see them. This year’s line up includes Lewis Capaldi, Kara Marni, Easy Life, and many (a few hundred!) more.

And for those working or interested in a music career, it’s worth knowing that the Great Escape is attended by music industry professionals, on the hunt for the next big thing. Alongside dipping and diving in and out of gigs, you can take advantage of insightful panels, keynote speeches, topical debates and hot networking opportunities galore.

The festival runs from 9-11th May and tickets are on sale now
