Easter Holiday activities in the South-East

The key to a successful Easter holidays is to jam pack it full of exciting adventures, activities, and plenty of opportunities to eat chocolate, for both the kids and you. We’ve rounded up all the best events, from theatre, to food, to raving by the sea.

Big Fish Little Fish Camp Bestival Family Rave
The award winning family rave brought to you by Camp Bestival is back at Dreamland this year. Aimed at kids between 18 months and 8 years old it’s musical fun for the whole family, featuring 2 Bad Mice on the decks playing acid house, techno, and drum and bass. The dancefloor will be covered in bubbles, balloons and glitter, so make sure you’ve got your camera’s! For those who don’t want to get their groove on, there’s a chill out area but also a crafts corner where kids entertainer Captain Cookie will be entertaining with colouring in, tattoo transfers and a ball pool. For adults it’s £11, kids £8 and babes in arms or those that aren’t walking yet go free.

Great Missenden Food Festival
For the foodies amongst you, Great Missenden are playing host to a cookery extravaganza. There will be demonstrations, stalls, and also the chance to get stuck in yourself. Food masterclasses for all ages dominate the festival, with kids, teenagers and adults all getting a chance to learn something new this Easter bank holiday weekend! Kids can enjoy story-telling and yoga lessons completely free, plus fairground rides and pottery workshops being on offer too.

Great Missenden Food Festival will take place at Chiltern Open Air Museum, Newland Park, Gorelands Lane, Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont Saint Giles, HP8 4AB. You can find more information and get tickets here.
Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace
Go on a Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace this spring and you could win your very own Lindt Gold Chocolate Bunny. As you hunt those bunnies out there’s also the chance to learn all about royal chocolate and how it was made, concoct your own Georgian drink and decorate a cup to enjoy it in. You can learn about the other cooking that went on in those historic kitchens, explore the beautiful gardens, and find out more about Henry VIII and his infamous eight wives who lived there. The Magic Gardens are newly reopened and offer the chance not only to play but to learn about the palace’s past as you do so.

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt will take place at Hampton Court Palace from 26 Mar – 15 April. Hampton Court is located at Molesey, East Molesy, KT8 9AU.
Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales
To inject some culture into your Easter holidays why not check out Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales at the Hexagon Theatre in Reading? Based on four stories by Julia Donaldson (of Gruffalo fame) this jam-packed hour of storytelling, songs and puppetry is a big ball of fun for young and old alike. Under the sea, in the jungle, and on the farm, the Tiddler team captivate audiences of all ages and take them on a journey all around the world, creating laughter where they go.

Easter at Lulworth
Lulworth Castle has Alice in Wonderland inspired Easter activities on across the bank holiday weekend, with crafts, a bouncy castle, soft play, crazy golf and themed trails. It’s an activity filled weekend, with lots to do, including the chance to go and visit the Mad Hatter in the castle. When all that gets too exhausting, you can pop into the Courtyard Café for some lunch or into the Castle Tearoom for a cream tea. Adults entry is £8, children are £6 and under 4’s go free.
