Puppy Love: UK Dog Shows and Events

Puppy Love: UK Dog Shows and Events

19 June 2018 | Emily May

For puppy lovers, pooches really are part of the family, but you can often have a ruff time finding places to accept furry friends. Therefore, we’ve rounded up shows and events dedicated to man’s best friend, so that this summer, every dog can have his day.

Beth’s Dog Show, Kent
Running in Kent for the last 8 years, Beth’s dog show events raise money for brain tumor charity The Sarah Kitchener Perrow Fund, and German Shepherd Rescue South in memory of the organiser’s beloved cousin, Sarah. Having already delivered their first event on 17 June, there are two more events to come, one at East Malling as part of this year’s Picnic in the Park event (to include live music, rides and food) and at Greenways Field, West Malling on 21 July. There’s something for everyone, from a Scruffts (Kennel Club’s premier class for crossbreds) qualifier at the Greenways event, to tombolas, classes such as “My Dog’s Got Talent” to fancy dress. There’s even a scruffiest dog class, so don’t worried if you’re pooch isn’t a pampered princess, they still have a chance of taking home a rosette!

Beth’s Dog Show events take place at the Playing Fields, East Malling, Kent, ME19 6DD on 24 June, and at Greenways Field, London Road – A20, West Malling, Kent, ME19 5AN on 21 July 2018.

The Great British Dog Walk, Derbyshire/ Cambridgeshire
An annual occurrence, the Great British Dog Walk puts on a variety of events around the country in support of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Upcoming walks are scheduled at Chatsworth House in Bakewell, Derbyshire, and at Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire. At each event, there’s a beautiful planned countryside walk, working hearing dogs to meet, fun family activities and stalls with gifts and refreshments. Also don’t miss on claiming your free doggy bandana with the price of an adult ticket – dogs themselves, of course, get in free.

DogFest, Bristol/Hertfordshire
Hosted by “supervet” Neil Fitzpatrick, DogFest has already graced Cheshire, and is now gearing up for its Western and Southern editions in Bristol and Hertfordshire. There are endless activities for you and your pooch to get involved with, to promote bonding and a bit of puppy love, including hilarious dog diving, a great dog walk, and a “temptation alley” where you have to try and distract your dog from enticing treats and toys. But the refreshments aren’t all boneos and kibble, there’s also a food village for the humans where you can grab a Cornish pasty or rustic pizza before heading over to the DogFest live stage for a boogie with your barker.

DogFest takes place at Ashton Court Estate, Long Ashton, Bristol, BS41 9JN from 23-24 June, and at Knebworth Park, Stevenage, SG1 2AX

The Dog Lover Show, Glasgow
Scotland’s biggest dog show, The Dog Lover Show returns from 8-9 September with their first indoor event. Unfortunately, no dogs except those that have been invited are permitted, but there will be 30+ breeds present for you to meet – there’s even a Dog’s of Instagram section where you can get a snap of some Scottish K9 internet stars - so you won’t be short of a furry friend over the weekend. There will also be over 100 exhibitors, and performances from what the show claims to be “some of the most talented dogs in the UK”.

The Dog Lover show takes place at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC), Glasgow, Scotland, G3 8YW from 8-9 September 2018.

Paws in the Park, Essex
Paws in the Park is another travelling event, and this summer they are hitting Billericay in Essex with numerous pawfect games for a bit of ruff and tumble. Join in with flyball, canine search and rescue and agility, and marvel at impressive arena displays and entertainment.
