Bristol Slapstick Festival
Grab your over-balanced building materials and whip up that cream pie – the Slapstick Festival is rolling back into Bristol this week! Film fans won’t want to miss this opportunity to watch classics, mostly from the silent era (that's 1895-1930), accompanied by live musical scores and introduced by film historians, experts, and comedians.

The Festival runs from 16-20 January, with a Gala event taking place on Sunday 10 February

Painter’s Beach Club, Jerwood Gallery in Hastings
From Saturday, the Jerwood Gallery will premiere previously unseen and new works by critically acclaimed artist Nigel Cooke in an exhibition called Painter’s Beach Club. Cooke combines music, weather and memories of growing up in Manchester to create his work, which often features dreamy, dystopian landscapes, peopled by a variety of oddball characters.
