Say 'I do' in style. We’ve rounded up some alternative wedding venues in the capital that are a little more than your local church hall.

Whether you've just been popped the question, been the nervous proposer or still dreaming, we've done some leg work for you and rounded up some alternative wedding venues in the capital that are a little more than your local church hall.

The Barbican Conservatory

You don’t need to leave your favourite city to be surrounded by plants and trees, or even worry about England’s unpredictable weather. The Barbican Conservatory offers exclusive use of their oversized greenhouse that is home to exotic fish, 2,000 species of tropical plants and is licensed to host wedding and civil partnership ceremonies. Once the knot is tied you’ll be whisked away to a secluded couples’ area where you can have pictures amongst the greenery, before joining your guests, of up to 250, for a delectable wedding breakfast from their in-house caterers, Searcys. With floor to ceiling windows you’ll also be able to look out at the city skyline!

Asylum Chapel

Run by Maverick Projects this venue offers you that church feeling but with a bohemian twist. The Caroline Garden’s Chapel, AKA the Asylum Chapel, in South East London, is a grade 2 listed building that dates back to 1826. This gutted church seats up to 120 guests, theatre style and although you can’t have your full reception here you are welcome to have a toast and some canapés after your service. The Chapel can be dressed with festoon lighting, candles and flowers just to add that extra touch.

MC Motors

For somewhere a little more rustic, MC Motors in East London offers just that. This 6,000 square foot warehouse is an industrial location that breathes character and charm, with a sky lighted roof that provides all your natural lighting needs. Seeping with history the largest room was originally part of the adjacent school while the other sections were split into smaller units. The area was heavily bombed during the blitz hence it’s dilapidated feel. Being also a photo studio they have plenty of props that you can get imaginative with and upon arrival through the unassuming entrance the term “stumbling upon an Aladdin’s Cave” has often been used.

Made up of three large halls, two meeting rooms, extensive gardens and grand staircases there’s plenty of room to make all the memories in the world. And their inclusive packages can set you up for the celebration of a lifetime.
