25 Years of Wookie - at The Lower Third
Wookie celebrates his timeless, scene-changing debut album at one of London's newest venues, a must-see for any old-school garage fan.

Jason Chue, known to the world as Wookie, stands as a foundational pillar of the UK Garage scene. A pioneering producer with a singular sonic signature, his influence has profoundly shaped the trajectory of British electronic music.
His early career yielded timeless anthems like 'Scrappy' and 'Storm' on his ManChu Recordings label. After honing his craft within Jazzie B's Soul II Soul production team, Wookie embarked on a solo path, developing his signature sound through a series of influential white-label releases. This creative momentum culminated in his groundbreaking, self-titled debut album in 2000, cementing his legacy as a true architect of the genre.
Now that the album is old enough for its prefrontal cortex to be fully developed, it's time for a celebration. As garage makes its way back onto the charts via PinkPanthresss and others, it's time to honour the man who had a great hand it putting it there in the first place.
