An intimate look into the experiences and stories behind some of Robert Lindsay's most iconic roles.
In conversation with a special guest, the legendary BAFTA, Laurence Olivier and Tony award-winning actor will delve behind the scenes as he discusses stories from his extensive career. Starting with the groundbreaking sitcom that catapulted him to fame, Robert will share his memories of playing Wolfie Smith on Citizen Smith, the cultural phenomenon that reflected the social and political landscape of the 1970s.
He will explore the creation of one of Britain's favourite TV families on My Family, recounting how the sitcom shaped British TV comedy for a new generation. And for newer fans, Robert expands upon the whimsical world of Galavant, playing the hilariously villainous Chester Wormwood.
Throughout his glittering career, the BAFTA, Laurence Olivier, and Tony award-winning actor has been asked, "What made you want to be an actor?" The question he asked himself was what kind of actor he wanted to be. While filming Citizen Smith, BBC producer Dennis Main-Wilson asked him, "Are you an actor or a performer?" In his new solo show Robert will playfully seek answers to these questions.
‘An Audience With Robert Lindsay’ will also feature special clips and behind-the-scenes imagery, sharing moments from his West End and Broadway triumph in Me & My Girl, Citizen Smith, the biting political satire of G B H, the hilarity of My Family, and his many stage performances including Hamlet, Richard III, Cyrano De Bergerac, and The Entertainer. With unforgettable stories and anecdotes, Robert even touches on the occasional misfire and his future work on Sherwood for the BBC and Generation Z for Channel 4.
As he puts it, “Acting allows you to live a thousand lives in one lifetime.” Honest, surprising, and often hilarious, with the chance to ask Robert your own questions—don't miss this opportunity to share and relive Robert's many lives with the man himself.
