Britten Sinfonia and Thomas Gould return to The Apex with Max Richter’s Recomposed - his celebrated 21st Century reimagining of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
Vivaldi’s popular work is everywhere, whether accompanying TV adverts or featuring regularly in the concert hall. Max Richter puts a fresh energy into it and invites us to listen to it anew as he re-composes it.
Richter says: "The original Four Seasons is a phenomenally innovative and creative piece of work. It's so dynamic, so full of amazing images. And it feels very contemporary... my aim was to fall in love with the original again – and I have."
The Recomposed album topped the classical charts in 22 countries. Britten Sinfonia has a particularly close association with the piece, having given the concert premiere in 2012 and the first performance at the BBC Proms - to a rapturous reception - in 2023.
Britten Sinfonia is one of the world’s most celebrated and pioneering ensembles. The orchestra is acclaimed for its virtuoso musicianship, an inspired approach to concert programming which makes bold, intelligent connections across 400 years of repertoire, and a versatility that is second to none.
