Cinderella And The Matzo Ball
JW3’s Traditional Jewish Pantomime at its unique best for the Festive Season!

A festive box of delights awaits at JW3 this Festive Season, bringing much needed Jewish joy, dazzling costumes, music, theatre, comedy and entertainment. The traditional Jewish Pantomime, Cinderella And The Matzo Ball by Nick Cassenbaum will be at JW3, Finchley Road from Sunday 7 December 2025 – Sunday 4 January 2026.
Talia Pick makes her pantomime debut as the baker Cinderella, alongside her bad sisters Milchig played by performance artist and native Nu Yawkah Rosie Yadid and packing a punch is Libby Liburd as Fleishig – the three sisters and bread-ren get up to all sorts of beatings (eggs), mixing (cakes) and some soggy bottoms at their bakery in Yeast Finchley in the Kosher Kingdom.
Talya Soames will bring her whirlwind of energy to the classic panto land clown as Cinder’s BFF (bread-friends-forever) Buttons, with puppeteer and E15 graduate Lillith Freeman as Beigel Streisand and Monsieur Croissant and Michael Cowan as Pita Rabbit, with the French actor Ronan Quiniou as the Prince with a cheese twist. The brilliant onstage performing band is multi-instrumentalist, Klezmer specialist and Musical Director Josh Middleton, acrobatic circus performer and klezmer expert trumpeter and tuba player Oliver Presman and internationally award-winning Mexican drummer, Migdalia van der Hoven. Plus, a magical and fluffy godmother Fairy Cake!
But as the clock strikes Shabbat…. Cinderella’s magical journey takes her to an upside-down cake land that is not so Jewish, the Land of Traif, where they sing of “cockles, escargot, bacon, lobster and oysters, and veal sauteed in its mother’s milk”. A very Jewish take on this classic tale – oh yes, it is! Classic songs all with a Jewish connection - with joyously fun new lyrics including the spectacular opening number One Short Day in the Emerald City (Wicked - Stephen Schwartz) now One Short Day in the Kosher Kingdom plus the classic duet sung by Cinderella and Buttons, I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing (Aerosmith - Diane Warren) now But I’m Stuck in a Bread Bin.
Award-winning director Abigail Anderson is back in the director’s chair, alongside the extraordinary musicality of Josh Middleton returning as musical director and leading his onstage band.
