Dan Llywelyn Hall and Rory Hutton collaborate on an exhibition of works inspired by British and Irish poetry.
Figurative Welsh painter Dan Llywelyn Hall and Irish illustrator Rory Hutton discovered that they share a love of poetry and decided to work on a collaborative show exploring how to put verses into art. The exhibition will be held at 57 Shepherd Market, Mayfair from Monday, 31st August to Sunday, 6th September 2026 with workshops and poetry readings scheduled during the week.
The exhibition will include paintings, prints and drawings by both artists and all are inspired by poems of such famous poets like John Keats, W.B. Yeats, Seamus Heaney, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edmund Spenser, but also by contemporary ones including John Clare, Sue Hubbard, Hugo Williams and Frieda Hughes. Many of the chosen poems involve animals and landscapes, and as both artists happen to share a star sign, Leo, which has always been an animal popular with poets, there will no doubt be a few works featuring lions.
Both artists want to share their love for poetry and art and on Bank Holiday Monday (31st August) there will be some short, free workshops and a poetry evening on Thursday, 3rd September.
