If you're visiting London this summer, don’t miss out on the chance to take a tour of one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Palace of Westminster. With tours running on Saturdays and selected weekdays throughout August, it makes for a memorable summer holiday activity!

You can book a self-guided audio tour or a fully guided tour, which both take you on a fascinating journey through some of the most recognisable rooms in the Palace.  This includes the chance to step inside the House of Commons and House of Lords Chambers as well as Central Lobby (which you might recognise from the news!) and Westminster Hall, the oldest building on the parliamentary estate. Follow in the footsteps of famous Prime Ministers and politicians while marvelling at the incredible cultural feast of architecture and artwork.

An audio tour allows you to explore at your own pace and spend more time in the areas that interest you. The multimedia device contains audio and visual content that delves into the history and heritage of the Palace, as well as its function as the home of the UK Parliament today.  A children's audio guide is available too, sprinkled with fascinating stories of the Palace’s history and offering engaging learning opportunities for visitors up to age 11. What’s more, one child goes free with each full-paying adult!

Alternatively, guided tours are led by friendly guides who will share their wealth of knowledge with you as they tell you about pivotal political moments in Britain’s history, including the sealing of the Magna Carta and the Gunpowder Plot, and other events that shaped UK democracy. The guides will also be happy to answer any questions you may have along the way.

Whichever way you choose to explore the Palace of Westminster, make a day of it by visiting the Jubilee Café (situated just off Westminster Hall) after your tour for hot and cold snacks and drinks. Also, don’t miss the Jubilee shop, which offers a range of gifts, souvenirs, children’s toys and other unique merchandise.
