Guinness World Records Attempt!

27 September 2025 Old Royal Naval College

Old Royal Naval College and Elstree Studies host a spectacular Guinness World Records attempt!

This summer, step onto the set of cinematic history and become part of a world record! To celebrate 100 years of movie magic at the UK’s most filmed heritage site, the Old Royal Naval College and Elstree Studios will stage a spectacular Guinness World Records™ attempt for the largest gathering of people dressed as film and TV characters.

On Saturday 27th September 2025, the riverside UNESCO World Heritage Site will honour a century on screen with a day to remember. Fans of Bridgerton, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and more are invited to dress up, show up, and make movie magic happen. From families to superfans, everyone is welcome to join this once-in-a-century celebration of film, fandom, and history for free.

As well as the world record attempt in partnership with the Old Royal Naval College at Greenwich, Elstree is staging a series of major events to marks its 100th anniversary. Highlights include a visit from the Duke of Edinburgh; the UK’s first AI-driven film and television immersive experience; a gala celebrating talent and filmmakers with a connection to Elstree such as Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas; an interactive heritage trail; and a community open day as well as screenings and Q&A sessions.

So step into the shoes of your favourite characters and become part of cinema graphic record-breaking history - think Queen Charlotte, Jack Sparrow, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Batman and beyond. Costumes must feature recognisable elements to count towards the official Guinness World Records.

There will also be iconic props and photo stations including Cruella’s car, the Batmobile, and a regal Bridgerton inspired throne. There will be film-themed food, music, and fun for all ages as visitors take part in a joint cinematic celebration and opportunity to make history and be part of a GWR record!
