For those who don't know, Joe Armon-Jones is one of Britain's most productive keyboardists. Working behind the scenes for Ezra Collective all these years, an unsung hero for the now-massive jazz band, Armon-Jones has been quietly releasing projects here and there, collaborating with the best of UK talent.
His most recent record, his most ambitious solo work to date, All The Quiet, is a galvanizing statement of intent, this two-part album is entirely written, produced, and mixed by Armon-Jones himself, traversing jazz, funk, dub, hip-hop, and soul.
An alumnus of Tomorrow's Warriors and a key member of the BRIT Award-winning Ezra Collective, his improvisational talent has made him a sought-after collaborator across genres. His latest album, released on his own Aquarii Records, features an impressive roster of guests including Greentea Peng, Wu-Lu, Yazmin Lacey, Hak Baker, Nubya Garcia, and Oscar Jerome.
He is certainly one to watch. And the Hackney Church may just be the best place to watch him.
