A rare London show for Mexican Institute of Sound and full band celebrating 20 years of invention.
Grammy-winning and eight-time Latin Grammy nominee Mexican Institute of Sound, led by Mexico City-native DJ and producer Camilo Lara returns to London on Wednesday 25th September for a rare show, 'Algo + Ritmo 2004-2024' at the Jazz Café, Camden. Camilo creates irresistible beats for the global dance floor with his project: Mexican Institute of Sound and his trademark blend of Cumbia and Cha-Cha-Cha.
Widely regarded as a pioneer of the Mexican electronica movement the Jazz Café concert will showcase the Mexico City-born artist’s illustrious 20-year career with 23 carefully curated songs and two new songs including: "Stop" with the sensational Ceci Bastida and "Bolero", a collaboration with Foudeqush and Esteman. His extensive and successful career has seen his music featured in TV shows including Narcos, Breaking Bad and Californication, on one of the best-selling games of all time Grand Theft Auto, alongside collaborations with the likes of Norah Jones, Beck, Graham Coxon of Blur, the Beastie Boys, Metallica, Tony Allen, Lila Downs and Los Angeles Azules (one of the best-selling Mexican groups of the last 25 years).
Camilo also led Mexrrissey, a project commissioned for La Linea - The London Latin Music Festival - back in 2015 which reinterpreted classic Morrissey tracks. Mexrrissey went on to release their debut album No Manchester which became the first ever Mexican record to appear in the UK music charts.
'Algo + Ritmo 2004-2024' is a celebration and a great place to look back and see the road travelled and to move forward because with M.I.S. creation can't stop!
