For those who were just getting into the genre, there was a moment of shock when one finally found out that UK Garage originated not from some basement in South London, or from an even deeper basement in Yorkshire, but instead from a devout Christian from Bloomfield, New Jersey by the name of Todd Edwards.

Well, it wasn't just him. He definitely innovated his own brand of house music, but it wasn't until DJ EZ found one, sped it up a bit, and played it at a Greenwich club, that he became a huge name in UK Garage. Helping to shape the direction of speed garage, as well as being an early influence for the now-iconic Daft Punk, he became quickly known as ‘Todd the God’, and by age 23 was a lynchpin of a scene that he was mostly unaware of.

He's getting the honouring he deserves at Jazz Cafe. Knees up!
