A person with curly hair, wearing a plum-colored top with voluminous sleeves and light pink pants, sits confidently against a textured, neutral-colored wall. They have a calm and poised expression.
Yazmin Lacey

After blowing us all away with Voice Notes a few years back, Lacey has been slowly teasing the new release throughout the year, coming through with the odd single, the odd music video here and there. She continues to build the hype with this Q&A at Rough Trade East, one of the city's most important, most active record shops, as she continues to build her reputation as a woman of the people.

Following a breakthrough year that saw her headline London's Village Underground and KOKO, plus unforgettable performances with Ezra Collective on Strictly Come Dancing and Radio 1's Live Lounge, Yazmin Lacey has cemented her status as the unforgettable voice behind the festival favourite "God Gave Me Feet for Dancing."

Now, with her new album 'Teal Dreams', she delivers on that promise. Shaped by real life, late-night reflections, and a last-minute trip to Thailand, the record is a vivid and emotionally sharp evolution of her signature blend of soul, ska, lover’s rock, and indie. In the studio, she collaborated with top-tier talent like Miles James (Little Simz), Barney Lister, and Matt Maltese, expanding her sound into something both bold and honest.

Beyond the album, her influence extends to the airwaves as host of Rinse FM's Morning Matters, with guests like Kojey Radical and Katy B, while her music has found a home on platforms like FIFA, Love Island, and Dear White People. 'Teal Dreams' is definitive proof that Yazmin Lacey is only just getting started.
