A guide to an exciting day at the Science Museum!

The Science Museum tells the stories of the extraordinary human achievement and technological advances that have helped humanity overcome challenges throughout history.

From Helen Sharman's iconic space suit to Amy Johnson’s marvellous Gipsy Moth aeroplane, these incredible stories help ignite curiosity, encourage scientific endeavour and spark the imagination.

Immerse yourself in a world full of wonder in Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery. Spread across seven different zones, there's lots of opportunity to get hands on with real scientific phenomena through over 40 interactive exhibits.

Revealing the beauty of the science and maths that shape our everyday lives, this unmissable experience will ignite your curiosity and inspire you to see the world around you in new and exciting ways.

From space exploration and the history of flight, to technology that has shaped our lives, and the most significant medical collection in the world, explore the Science Museum’s free galleries to discover the history and future of scientific innovation.

If you plan to visit the museum with little ones, then both the Pattern Pod, the multi-sensory area for children under eight and The Garden an interactive gallery for children ages 3-6 are a must-see.

Get off the beaten track and go on a unique journey of scientific discovery by following one of the family trails or self-guided tours.

Get curious, go big, or find something for the little ones - there's a trail to suit everyone.

If you’re feeling peckish during your visit, then stop off at the Energy Café and treat yourself to lunch. You can enjoy hot and cold dishes, including made-to-order pizza, salads, wraps and sandwiches, or pick your favourite homemade cake and award-winning coffee.

Pre-bookable Lunch bags and Kids bags are available to purchase when you book your free ticket online. You will be able to select from a sandwich or salad when booking and the additional contents (fruit, drinks etc.) can be selected on the day of your visit.

The Science Museum is just a short walk away from South Kensington and Gloucester Road tube stations, along the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines. There are also even more bike racks available in the local area if you would like to cycle to the museum.

You can also reach the museum through a walk across Hyde Park and down Exhibition Road.
