We reveal five things you may not know about Sink the Pink, who host popular LGBTQ+ balls and parties in London.

Earlier this March, the explosive Sink the Pink returned to their popular party home of the Troxy, Limehouse for a fantastic evening of glitz, glamour and a whole load of glitter! Over the past eight years the team have grown these parties from its East London home to a 3,000 capacity venue with seasonal sell-out Balls. Look out for the STP Summer Ball coming soon, which will certainly be another night to remember. Headlined by 90s sensation B*witched, the latest party was a lot of fun, and here are some things you might not know about Sink the Pink...

1. There are lots of celebrity guests

The denim-clad stars of the show were the popular 90s band B*Witched, who entertained the crowds to their top hits including Blame it on the Weatherman, Rollercoaster and C’est la Vie. Their set included falling glitter, smoke machines and a sensational a capella opening number. The night was also attended by Beverley Knight who Instagrammed this great snap:

Sam Smith was also rumoured to have attended and was spotted in the crowd!

2. They have a station devoted to glitter

Who was it that said “there can never be enough glitter”? Sink the Pink takes this to heart, creating an entire Glitter Station for its guests. Get down there quickly at the beginning of the night, as the queue can get long. At the stand, the Sink the Pink staff will take over while you sit back, relax and watch your face get transformed into a glitter sensation.

3. They have a Best Dressed Competition

What event and disco night would be complete without a “best dressed” competition? A firm favourite of Sink The Pink nights is spotting the best dressed in the crowd and inviting them on stage to work the catwalk and share their creations. Let’s just say that you are always in for a treat when London is let loose, inhibitions are lowered and we celebrate all that is different and unique. At the latest ball, Beverley Knight joined the guests on stage to judge the competition, and she welcomed the winner to one final catwalk before another load of entertainment swept the stage.

4. Live Music and Bearded Ladies

“There is nothing like this anywhere else!” we overheard one of the guests say, and it’s true! With a full evening of live acts, celebrity guests and an entourage of the famous STP dancers, including drag queens and leg-splitting bearded ladies, you are guaranteed to be entertained all night long. The other acts who joined the headliners B*witched were Raven Mandella (special shout out for the synchronised death drop at the end of the number!), Mzz Kimberly, Glynfamous (the STP co-founder) and Jonbenet Blonde. Each act in turn dominated the stage with their vibrant performances and back-up dancers.

5. Their home turf is east London’s Bethnal Green

The fun doesn’t need to stop seasonally after each Ball. Why not head on down to the Working Men’s Club in Bethnal Green and experience the fun-filled events and entertainment from this creative bunch? Their music extravaganzas include world disco, Mexican funk, Berlin techno and Hawaiian house, and tickets are from £3. Support London’s LGBTQ scene by heading down to see what the fuss is about.
