LPO continues record label 20th anniversary celebrations with three further releases

Throughout 2025, the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) has marked the 20th anniversary of the LPO CD Label with a number of landmark releases – including a limited edition double LP of Rachmaninov’s The Bells & Symphonic Dances signed by Principal Conductor Edward Gardner. A further three releases  from the LPO label will be released before the end of 2025 as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations.

Upcoming autumn releases

Friday 5 September – Tippett: A Child of Our Time (LPO-0136)

This powerful performance of Tippett’s ‘modern oratorio’ – with the voices of the London Adventist Chorale alongside the London Philharmonic Choir especially deepening the soul stirring impact of the Spirituals – highlights Gardner’s long-standing affinity with Tippett’s music, bringing conviction and emotional depth to this searing work of oppression, compassion and hope.

Friday 24 October – Karina Canellakis conducts Tchaikovsky Symphonies Nos. 5 & 6 (LPO 0137)

The label’s first full release with Principal Guest Conductor Karina Canellakis pairs Tchaikovsky’s Fifth and Sixth Symphonies. Among his most powerful and emotionally revealing works, this pairing offers a compelling portrait of Tchaikovsky’s genius in the hands of one of today’s most exciting musical partnerships.

Friday 21 November – Elgar: The Dream of Gerontius (LPO-0138)

This landmark recording of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius is conducted by Edward Gardner and features a standout cast of Allan Clayton, Jamie Barton and James Platt. Recorded live at the 2022 BBC Proms, it also features the London Philharmonic Choir and the Hallé Choir.

2026 will see the label produce further exciting releases, including Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 conducted by LPO Conductor Emeritus Vladimir Jurowski.

The Label’s 20th anniversary has also seen the launch of a new direct-to-consumer offering giving listeners access to the entire LPO Label catalogue curated by the LPO in one place for the first time, and an opportunity for the Orchestra to connect and foster a closer relationship with its audience.
