NYMT launches its 50th Anniversary with bold new projects made by the next generation.
This autumn, the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) sets its 50th anniversary season in motion with two bold new productions that embody our core values: invention, inclusion and the next wave of theatrical talent entering the industry. Created by and with young artists, PLATFORM (ages 18–24) and CRESCENDO (ages 13–17), reinterpret beloved material through a fresh lens - blending legacy and innovation to reflect the unique voices of today’s youth.
These showcase productions are artistic declarations: live, inventive, and full of intent. They spotlight the originality and craft of the young artists who are stepping into the spotlight – and actively helping shape the future of British musical theatre.
This marks the final chance in 2025 to witness the creativity, courage, and craft of NYMT’s rising stars in action.
PLATFORM: The Sound of 50 Summers
Monday 20 October 2025 at 7.30pm – The Other Palace, London
PLATFORM is NYMT’s flagship company of emerging professionals aged 18–26 - a space for bold voices and big ideas. In The Sound of 50 Summers, they reimagine the company’s most iconic moments, not as a retrospective but as a handover; a suitcase of memories, melodies, and milestones unpacked by the next generation of musical theatre storytellers.
Scenes and songs from Pendragon to Prodigy, Bugsy Malone to Sunday in the Park with George and more are intercut with the performers’ own reflections, discoveries, and dreams, creating a journey through time told with heart, grit, and the unmistakable spark of young artists stepping boldly into the future.
CRESCENDO: Disney’s Dare to Dream Jr.

CRESCENDO is NYMT’s younger company, featuring rising stars aged 11–18 who are finding their creative voice. Disney’s Dare to Dream Jr. is a vibrant musical revue featuring songs from Frozen, Hercules, The Lion King, and more - celebrating imagination, courage, and the dreams that shape our journeys.
For 50 years, the National Youth Music Theatre has stood at the forefront of musical theatre training and performance for the next generation of performers, creatives, and technicians. NYMT champions artistry, discipline, and invention and offers exceptional opportunities for young artists to develop their craft alongside world-class creative teams.
