THE CHOIR OF MAN

THE CHOIR OF MAN

The Choir man is an uplifting celebration of community and friendship where everyone is welcome. It's 90 minutes of feel-good, foot-stomping entertainment unlike anything else in the West End. A wildly talented group of incredible instrumentalists, world-class wordsmiths and sensational singers; a cast of nine guys that serve it all live!

The action takes place in a local pub, known as The Jungle. Some pubs have a football team, others a darts team. The Jungle has a choir, plus an excellent live band. Throughout a speedy 90 minutes, the choir (a cast of nine, (extra) ordinary guys) tell jokes, stories, tap and of course, sing. Boy, do they sing! Essentially, they transform the Arts Theatre into a fully functioning pub, with audience members being able to get a pint on stage even before the show starts!

So what is it about this show that makes its audience become regulars, enjoying repeated visits?

The show takes on perceptions and stereotypes about the lads you find down the pub and flips it on its head completely. Men have feelings and if they need to talk, let out their feelings or have a good old cry, not only is there nothing wrong with that, it is encouraged. The jungle and, in turn, The Choir Of Man is a safe space.

But its the songs that standout in this show - every number in an eclectic setlist is fantastically performed, with an astonishing cover of Adele’s Hello and Somebody to Love, Some Nights and The Pina Colada Song which threaten to quite literally bring the house down. Then there is a gorgeous version of The Kinks’ Waterloo Sunset, a dreamy acapella cover of Sia’s Chandelier and a magical, totally acoustic take on The Parting Glass that bids the audience farewell at last orders.

For the millions of people who enjoy nothing more than going to the pub, there will be a sense of familiarity in The Choir of Man. With no shortage of heart and the ability to give you a warm feeling inside, it is ultimately a wonderful tribute to community and togetherness The result is an evening of irresistible fun that has the effortless ability to make you grin from ear to ear.

The Choir Of Man is currently playing at Arts Theatre until 31st August 2025
