The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby

The all-new musical directed by Marc Bruni is a story of extravagance and longing,  featuring choreography by Dominique Kelley (So You Think You Can Dance), a book by Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones) and a jazz and pop-influenced original score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen.

The Great Gatsby is the brand new musical based on the classic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, New York, this is “one wildly entertaining night at the theatre, and musical theatre at its finest” (Theatrely). It's a lyrical, tragic portrait of the American Dream gone awry, set against the glittering backdrop of the 1920s. Narrated by Nick Carraway, it follows the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his obsessive love for the beautiful, elusive Daisy Buchanan. Beneath the champagne and jazz lies a story of illusion, longing, and the emptiness of excess. It's a tale where hope glows like a green light — just out of reach.

The arrangement offers no shortage of striking musical moments, a jazz-lover’s dream, but it's the cast's dynamic performances that elevate the show into something unforgettable and you'd be hard-pressed to find a more talented group of performers on stage. Corbin Bleu as Nick Carraway is nothing short of perfection. Every word feels lived-in and honest, an emotional and grounding performance amongst so much glamour. Jamie Muscato brings Gatsby to life and when paired with Frances Mayli McCann, both having two of the most powerful voices currently on the West End circuit, it comes as no surprise that both their solo numbers and duets are simply sublime.

Directed by Marc Bruni, this production isn't simply an adaptation, but rather an immersion into it. The audience are transported to the roaring twenties from the very first note of the production until the end. With its stellar cast, stunning design and exquisite costumes, this adaptation of The Great Gatsby is a bold, seductive and a dazzling spectacle that truly deserves its time on a West End stage. An unforgettable theatrical experience. Catch it while the green light still shines bright.

The Great Gatsby is currently playing at London Coliseum until 7th September 2025
