International Womenâs Day is coming on 8 March 2020, and we think you should spend it living your best feminist self with one of these unmissable events!

Walk for Women
Manchester City Centre
Organised by Manchester City Council itself, the cityâs annual Walk for Women is an amazing opportunity to have your voice heard and stand strong in a crowd of female power! Both men, women and other are welcome to join the council on this march - you just have to be a proud supporter of women to qualify. Youâre invited to make as much noise as possible to claim this space, so feel free to bring along fun, safe and noisy instruments for the day. To get involved, meet outside Manchester Cathedral at 12pm on 7 March for a walk commencing at 12.30pm. The route will take you right through the city centre to St Peterâs Square where youâll find a female-led marketplace. Networking, performances and activities that focus on health, employment, education and more is a great spot to unwind on this International Womenâs Weekend!

The Pankhursts of Manchester Tour
Emmeline Pankhurst Statue, St Peter's Square, Manchester, M2 3DN
Discover the fascinating feminist history of Manchester by dropping in on The Pankhursts of Manchester Tour. Starting at the city centre Emmeline Pankhurst statue, find out all about this politically revolutionary family that included Emmeline and her daughters Christabel, Sylvia and Adela, and their vital parts in the Suffragette movement that paved the way for equal rights for women. Learn all about their hunger strikes, militant activism and overall political movements, including the dramatic rift between Emmeline and Adela that never healed. Youâll no doubt leave this tour feeling bolstered for feminist action and with a better understanding of Manchesterâs important role in the Womenâs Social and Political Union.

Feminist Roadshow: Comedy Night and Workshop
The Frog and Bucket, 102 Oldham Street, Manchester, M4 1LJ
If youâve ever had the pleasure of hearing someone say that âwomen arenât funnyâ then be sure to check out the Funny Womenâs Feminist Roadshow and Comedy Night on 8 March! This full afternoon workshop is filled with fascinating panels and enjoyable talks, including the Know Your Worth Workshop which will leave you with the chance to tell your own story, create your own comedy material, interpret body language and become more confident and memorable. Youâll also get the chance to listen to the panel discussion âIs Greater Manchester Working for Women?â with activists and members of Oldham council in discussion. The eveningâs comedy show will then be headlined by Funny Women award winner Jayde Adams and a selection of other hilarious acts.

For those who donât know, The Guilty Feminist is an extremely popular podcast (itâs had over 70 million downloads worldwide!) that launched five years ago. It involves the hilarious Deborah Francis White discussing the insecurities and anomalies of being a 21st century feminist, with different guests including comedians and popular musicians.
