Manchester is home to the largest Jewish community outside London and the Jewish Museum is an important record of their migration and settlement, documenting over 31,000 items.

The gallery is presented in three themes – Journeys, Communities and Identities and all the stories told are Jewish.  There are over 130 recorded interviews with holocaust survivors and refugees, over 20,000 photographs and documents, and a heartwarming immersive film with interviews of those who made the journey to Manchester.

The museum includes a modern gallery, vegetarian café, shop and learning studio & kitchen as well as the beautifully restored synagogue which is now part of the permanent exhibition.   It also runs a packed programme of interesting events across the year, including theatre, tours, arts and crafts. Check out their website for full details of what's on.

The museum is open 7 days a week for general admission and ticket prices for an adult is £8. There are ticket concessions for students, young persons and under 10s and MJM members are free.  They also take group bookings.
