Sparks—and flames—will fly at the Chemistry: Late as we celebrate 150 years since Dmitri Mendeleev published his periodic table.

Get to know your elements with a round of Guess Who, try cereal beer, build an atom and more. It’ll be a gas!

Discover the secrets of Victorian photoflash with Dr Kristy Turner from BBC’s Back in Time for School and find out what makes fireworks so beautiful in a colourful chemistry show.

Play a round or two of periodic table Top Trumps or roll up your sleeves and build a comet or a planet with astrochemists from the University of Leeds.

Detect blood at a crime scene with the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology or taste the rainbow from a test tube and learn about the chemical breakdown of micro herbs at MetMUnch’s colourful salad bar.

Check the website for more programme highlights and book your free ticket now.
