The Brunswick Art Gallery exhibits Concrete in Life: A Global Photography Competition commissioned by the GCCA (Global Cement and Concrete Association).

26-28th March | The Brunswick Art Gallery, 68 The Brunswick Centre, London WC1N 1AE | 9am-9pm

For five years now, GCCA’s Global Photography Competition ‘Concrete in Life’ has been “celebrating the essential role of concrete around the world.” To mark its fifth year, more than 100 of the most outstanding images from all previous years will be on display at this exhibition in The Brunswick Art Gallery (aptly enough, The Brunswick Centre itself is an inconic Grade II listed architectural gem built from concrete in the Brutalist style).

“Unless [we] have an enormous budget, most of us enjoy the beauty of building through photography” - Max Fraser, editorial director of Dezeen, at the launch today.

This year’s competition had over 21,000 entries from photographers both amateur and professional from every continent, showcasing a stunningly creative & varied application of concrete in some genuinely breath-taking environments. From the thousands of entries, a shortlist of 25 was drawn up for each of the 4 categories - Urban Concrete, Concrete and Infrastructure, Concrete in Daily Life and Beauty and Design - from which category winners will be chosen alongside the overall winner.
