Grange Park Opera, Surrey, presents an exciting new version of Maurice Revel’s opera comique, L’heure espagnole, which is completely FREE and available for audiences to watch now.
The reboot tells the story of Torquemada, an unwitting clockmaker and his wife, Concepción, who spends her time with a young lover while her husband is out on municipal business. One afternoon, Concepción find herself in a romantic complication with the arrival of Ramiro, a UPS delivery driver and Don Inigo, a powerful banker. Through 21 comic vignettes the tension rises as Concepción juggles all three men.

The production was filmed in the picturesque setting of Kensington Church Street, London at the world-renowned clock shop, Howard Walwyn Fine Antique Clocks. This version of the opera was directed by Stephen Medcalf, who believes the filming setting is infinitely more beautiful than anything that could be created on stage with the added vibrancy of day to day life which comes from Kensington Church Street.
