Welcome to MACFEST 2021, a groundbreaking and award-winning Muslim Arts and Culture Festival. This year it has gone global!  
 
MACFEST’s mission is: celebrating arts, diversity and connecting communities. MACFEST 2021 offers a rich feast of over 70 events from January to June 2021, celebrating the rich heritage of the Muslim diaspora communities. As a national festival MACFEST is hosted in Manchester, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Stockport, Rochdale, Huddersfield, Glasgow and Liverpool in libraries, theatres, galleries and museums, as well as in partnerships with other festivals: Huddersfield Literature Festival and Manchester Science Festival. Nearly all events are free and due to Covid-19 digital. 
 
There is also an international feast, with events hosted from Azerbaijan, Dubai, France, Morocco, Turkey, South Africa, the Philippines and Pakistan. There are many highlights, the keynote speech with Akbar S Ahmed on 24th January, the Musical finale, Comedy with Jeff Mirza, International Women Week events, the Azerbaijan Festival on 4th April and the Arab Heritage Festival on 27th June.  
 
There is something for the whole family: literature, art, history, music, performance, photography, culture, comedy, art exhibitions, demonstrations, debates, women and youth panels, children’s activities, and art workshops. We are bringing you a great line-up of local, national and international speakers: performers, writers, academics, photographers, comedians, poets, film makers, actors, artists and singers: from Manchester - to Uzbekistan. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, we are offering a mainly digital programme. 
 
Edcuation lies at the heart of macfest with various schools and colleges from the North West of England, celebrating MACFEST Days, with mini festivals, arts and cultural activities. This year MACFEST is hosting British and international students from Turkey, Gambia, Germany, the USA and Palestine who are taking part in youth panels.
