The Portico Library are excited to announce the relaunch of their free public exhibitions programme this summer with a spectacular interactive installation of immersive sculptural and textile artworks by world-renowned Brazilian artist Maria Nepomuceno. Maria Nepomuceno: Refloresta! (Reforest!) Will take place from the 1st of July to 11th October ’21, from 10 am to 4 pm Mondays to Fridays, located at The Portico Library, 57 Mosley St, Manchester. Accompanying Maria’s magnificent pieces will be an evolving display of Portico visitors’ own life drawings which will be created through posing and interacting with the original artworks.

An associated calendar of participatory events and performances will welcome arts audiences back into the city centre and the Library’s beautiful and historic spaces. Maria’s use of bright colours will bring the vibrancy of the natural world back into the library. The Portico Library is one of Manchester’s longest-running organisations and oldest buildings. It is open five days a week and is completely free for the public to enjoy. Maria’s exhibition, Refloresta! Will mark the start of an ambitious and exciting development process to reimagine the Library’s future as an accessible and innovative centre of learning, history, arts and culture.
