Medieval Cornish plays that could not be suppressed!

4 September 2021 to 18 September 2021Visit website

The Cornish team behind the St Just Ordinalia has announced the opening of 2021 ticket sales for the Plen an Gwari open-air performances that will run from the 4th – 18th September. Described as the ‘EastEnders of their time’, tickets will go on sale for these incredible 14th centuries plays from April 26th ’21. Experience spectacular performances of the oldest surviving trilogy of plays in arguably the oldest working outdoor theatre space in Britain and book your tickets via the Hall for Cornwall’s online ticket office before they sell out!

There will be options to purchase tickets to each performance; Origo Mundi, The Passion and The Resurrection, or the whole cycle at once at a discounted rate. All three plays in the Ordinalia Cycle will be performed four times over the two weeks with an additional matinee in the second week. Doors will open at 12 pm for the matinees and 6:30 pm for the evening shows.

Artistic director Jason Squibb said, “We have been spreading the word about what we’re doing for a few months now but it is great to finally open up the opportunity for people to buy tickets to come and, not just watch, but truly feel and experience The Ordinalia performances and the Festival of Cornish Culture. Through the 2021 St Just Ordinalia this September, we are providing the unique and rare opportunity for visitors to sit themselves down in the same spot that someone like them sat some 500 years ago, to watch more or less the same production. They may have giggled in the same parts, sung to the same tune and rejoiced at the same scenes. Can you imagine a more culturally and historically significant experience?”

Ticket prices start from £16 per play, and £43 for 3 plays with concessions and discounts available. The outdoor performances will take place at St Just’s Plen an Gwari TR19 7HX. For more information, including specific times and dates, be sure to check out the St Just Ordinalia website!
