Multi award-winning ‘Copenhagen’ to open at Theatre Royal Bath

This event has expired!

9 June 2021 to 26 June 2021

Michael Frayn’s multi-award-winning Copenhagen will be opening at Theatre Royal Bath this summer before touring the UK. This remarkable play will be directed by Emma Howlett, starring Philip Arditti, Haydn Gwynne and Malcolm Sinclair and will be on for three weeks from the 9th of June, before touring Southampton, Malvern, Cambridge and Kingston-Upon-Thames. This fascinating and daring detective story enjoyed a hugely acclaimed run at the National Theatre before transferring to the West End and Broadway and winning the 2000 Tony Award for Best Play.

“In Nazi-occupied Copenhagen, in 1941, a clandestine encounter is known to have taken place between two Nobel Prize-winning physicists, Dane Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg, a German. The men were old friends and long-term colleagues but now found themselves on opposite sides of the divide. Under the watchful eye of Bohr’s wife, Margrethe, Frayn speculates on the debates which might have taken place; an exchange of transformative ideas which had huge implications for both the Nazis and the Allies, and for our world today.”

Tickets are available to book on the Theatre Royal Bath website. It will be running from the 9th of June to the 26th of June, Monday-Saturday 7.30 pm, Matinees Thursday and Saturday 2.30 pm. See full details online.
