Museum of Youth Culture is pleased to announce its new Central London location at 154-156 Shaftesbury Avenue from Thursday 9th December 2021 for 3 months.

Taking over a stunning new premises in the heart of London’s West End for a Christmas residency, the Museum of Youth Culture will be transforming its two floors into a multi-media exhibition space and Christmas shop featuring their famous Subculture Bookshop, all dedicated to the incredible creativity of British youth culture.

The ever-changing pop-up is programmed to host subcultural talks, live music, films, a photographic exhibition, gallery and entertainment area bringing the archival content to life with special cutting-edge guests and speakers who are immersed in the scene and will be taking over the gallery.

Hot the press will be the nationwide photo album ‘Grown Up in Britain’ - a brand new book created from thousands of treasured photographs, ticket stubs, pin badges etc that were submitted by the general public throughout lockdown. Pick up copy in-store from mid-December or pre-order online.

Founder of Museum of Youth Culture, Jon Swinstead comments ‘This is a great opportunity for us to have a permanent home in London and help people understand the influence and importance of youth culture on society.  It’s the perfect location for locals, tourists and the lifestyle curious to come and learn about the importance of conserving youth culture.  He continues, “It is interesting to see how themes such as, working week, going to school, political protest, equality and how we spend our leisure  time has evolved over the decades.  What seems mundane now will become treasured memories in the future’.
