Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. It holds lots of energy and when it burns it doesn't produce greenhouse gases, just water. This means that very soon we will begin to use hydrogen to decarbonise our gas supply.

Hear from Amer Gaffar, Director of Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre at MMU and Dr Angela Needle, Director of Strategy at Cadent Gas, as they explore the potential of this fuel of the future.

They’ll offer an introduction to hydrogen, examine how it’s produced and how it can be used in the future, explore its role in achieving carbon zero targets and uncover how it is part of the solution to reaching Net Zero.

This event is presented in partnership with Cadent Gas, which brings gas to 11 million homes and businesses throughout the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, South Yorkshire, East of England and North London, and is at the forefront of developing the science and infrastructure that will enable us to use low carbon hydrogen to heat our homes and power our transport.

Part of Manchester Science Festival.
