TETH
A welsh-language lgbtq+ short film , brings global audiences (and dog lovers) together at Raindance Film Festival.
Teth, the first Welsh Language short film to look at the trans experience, is screening at 34th Raindance Film Festival in London as part of Queer Shorts Programme 2 on 25th and 26th June.
Following top surgery, Ioan and Rhodri adapt to their new relationship as father and son, that is until the dog mistakes a nipple for a chew toy! The film is a hilarious and heart-warming comedy, written by and starring Leo Drayton, based on a real event after his own top surgery. It has played to wide acclaim at many international festivals include BFI Flare, Iris Prize, Frameline 49, Newport Beach International, Out On Film Atlanta, and Kashish Pride Film Festival.
Teth is directed and executive produced by award-winning Welsh playwright and filmmaker Peter Darney. His previous short film G Flat starring Richard Wilson screened at BFI Flare in 2023 and won Best Short Film at the prestigious Dinard Film Festival. Teth is nominated for Best Short Drama at this year’s Celtic Media Awards in June.
Peter says “Teth has screened all over the world and the reaction has been wild! It’s been thrilling for Leo and I to see our Welsh language queer story, uniting audiences across the world - whatever their sexuality or language, through comedy. We are delighted that the journey now takes us to the super prestigious and uber cŵl- Raindance! Gwych!”
