The Museum of Brands has reopened to the public!

19 October 2020

The Museum of Brands was established in 1984 and takes visitors on a nostalgic journey through 200 years of social change, consumer culture and lifestyle.

The collection comprises over half a million items concentrating on those areas that have transformed daily life – entertainment, travel, leisure, music, fashion and children’s toys, plus postcards, magazines, wartime ephemera and royal souvenirs. It represents a vast social history, providing evidence of the dynamic evolution in our consumer lifestyle, along with the way that technology has enabled change and progress. The story is told through the visual medium of design, graphics and commercial art.

We have installed way finding signs and pass points, along with a host of other measures, to keep you safe. We are asking visitors to wear face coverings (unless medically exempt) and to maintain social distancing from other visitors not in your household or bubble. We have introduced timed tickets that can be booked online and help avoid any queuing, but we do keep a couple of tickets for each slot for walk in visitors too.

The Time Tunnel, as well as our temporary display, When Brands Take a Stand are both open. We have also opened our beautiful garden and, while our cafe remains closed, you are welcome to bring your own food or drink to enjoy there when visiting.
