The Vache Baroque Festival, an innovative open-air music venue specialising in Baroque repertoire, is back for a full season of cultural delights this summer!

Set within the stunning grounds of The Vache, an historic stately home located in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, VBF brings audiences a varied programme of opera, dance, drama and much more.

The festival begins on Saturday 28 August with Paradise & Pandemonium, a dramatic reading of extracts from John Milton’s epic poems Paradise Lost and Paradise Regaineddelivered by two acclaimed British actors (to be announced) and punctuated with the music of J.S. Bach. Confirmed soloists include the distinguished countertenor, James Hall, and tenor, Nick Pritchard.

On Monday 30 August we welcome the return of renowned dance group BirdGang Ltd for an evening of contemporary dance to the sound of traditional Baroque suites.  Presented by Master of Ceremonies, Ukweli Roach (Blindspot, Humans), our dancers add a modern twist to 17th and 18th century dance music with their world-class choreography.

Finally, on Friday 3 and Sunday 5 September, there will be two staged performances of Handel’s popular pastoral opera, Acis & Galatea, starring the celebrated soprano Rowan Pierce as Galatea. As Handel’s most enduring dramatic work, this beautiful tale of love, tragedy and prevailing hope will transport you to the idyllic utopia of nymphs and shepherds.

We warmly encourage patrons to arrive early to enjoy a picnic, explore the grounds and watch our pre-show pop-up performances.
