#letthecultureshine: Win Tickets to Long Song at Chichester Festival Theatre this Weekend!

Containing the very best of British and South West culture, here are some festivals that have had a year off and are now raring to go this summer

As a resident of Bristol, I’m surrounded by creative projects, spilling out in all directions. New businesses, galleries, cafes, restaurants and installations – it’s all in constant motion. Now the next evolution of many of these things is to bring them together in the ultimate celebration. I am of course speaking about festivals. Containing the very best of British and South West culture, here are some festivals that have had a year off and are now raring to go this summer…

1.Valley Fest @ Chew Magna – link here

Overlooking the beautiful Chew Magna Lake and set in the field adjacent to a community farm, Valley Fest 2021 (30 July) is a one of a kind festival and the brainchild of founder Luke Hasell. The festival’s proximity to natural scenery is complemented wonderfully by a solid line-up of musicians including Basement Jaxx and Razorlight, chef demos and some of Somerset’s finest grub. A perfect family set-up if you’ve got little ones.

Where? Denny Lane, Chew Magna, Bristol, BS408SZ.

2. Tokyo World @ Eastville Park – Link here

The weekend festival Tokyo World Festival is a celebration of urban and dance music happening in Bristol’s Eastville Park. Spanning the trenches of grime, house, drum & bass and beyond (the full festival line-up will be released on the 12th July) Tokyo World is not set to be lacking in energy. With official after-parties set to go on after the festivals’ lights turn off, are you ready for a rave?

Where? Eastville Park, Bristol, (the car park), Park Avenue, Bristol, Bristol, BS5 6QL.

3. Bath Festival Finale Weekend @ Bath Recreation Ground – link here

Last year’s Bath Festival Finale Weekend. Link here.

Despite setbacks earlier in the year, Bath Festival Finale Weekend is happily due to go ahead on the 7th and 8th of August 2021. The line-up involves the likes of UB40 feat Ali Campbell & Astro, McFly and Scouting for Girls - tickets are selling fast. Taking place on the Bath Recreation Ground, take in the headline acts, absorb the views and surrounding bath stone architecture, not to mention the Big Top Stage which will have alternative entertainments such as spoken word, street theatres and more. Did I mention the food stalls?

Where? Bath Recreation Ground, Pulteney Mews, Bath BA2 4DS.

4. Eden Sessions @ The Eden Project - link here

Cornwall’s Eden Sessions have a multipronged focus. Firstly, as a series of live outdoor music festivals, pumping out big acts in style and secondly, as a means of building awareness and funds for the Eden Projects charitable efforts. This year, Eden Sessions will host Ben Howard (11th Sep), McFly (12th Sep), The Script (17th Sep) and Snow Patrol plus Lucy Blue (16th Sep). Why not make it a longer trip and book in to see the Eden Project itself?
