Choose to Challenge is the theme of 2021’s International Women’s Day which takes place on 8th March. With 71% of podcasts hosted exclusively by men and only 11% exclusively by women –many of us could look further afield than our habitual listens. Spanning areas such as cultural critique, health, empowerment and business, these female podcasters are breaking down boundaries and building a better world one listen at a time.

The High Low involves wide-ranging conversations between fast speaking friends Sykes and Alderton – both highbrow and low brow, political and trivial. Nothing is off the table in the world of pop culture and with 4.8/ 5 ratings on Apple Podcast its clearly having an impact. Although the finale episode of The High Low has recently aired (after 4 years) the podcast has a huge backlog of excellent listens. These include a thorough coverage of the fall of Harvey Weinstein as well as addressing the pressure put on the Duchess of Cambridge to make post-natal life look glamourous.

Since then she has recorded a seriously prolific 438 (to date) episodes – all with the aim and intent of empowering women to build their own businesses. Hosted by Manchester-based marketing agency founder Vivian Yau (a second generation British Chinese Millennial) But Where are you From? tackles anything paints in broad strokes covering family, racism, work and forming identity as a minority in the UK. Inspiring to many (with 43 x five star ratings out of 43 reviews!)
