Back to School: Food & Drink Classes in London

29 August 2019 | Kate Plummer

It’s day four of our Back to School series where we’re passing on your new timetable for all the fantastic new skills and experiences to expand your cranium, but without the threat of detention if we catch you smoking behind the bike sheds. Today we’re feeding your minds by feeding your stomachs with these top food and drink related classes and experiences to enjoy in the capital. Forget the food tech class tedium of learning how to boil an egg; we’re adding a little flavour with everything from cocktail creations to perfect pizza bases.

Feel all Cheesy at Wildes Cheese
In the words of Monty Python, Blessed are the Cheesemakers. If, like us here at Culture Calling, an enormous cheese board is the dream, why not have a go at making your very own selection? Venture up to Wildes Cheese in Tottenham where these artisan cheese makers are all about the highest quality and are happy to share their passion for all things cheesy. Their one-day hands-on course sees you making four different cheese to impress your house guests/inhale at home yourself, as well as learning the basics of how to make your own at home (no fancy equipment necessary) and of course, some all-important cheese tasting.

Brew your own beer at Brew Club
Luckily the first rule of Brew Club isn’t that you can’t talk about Brew Club, otherwise this feature would be pretty problematic. The team at Brew Club make creating your own craft beer easy and available to all with their All Grain beginner’s classes. Choose from brewing 20 litres of IPA, bitter or stout, which you’ll then leave to ferment for two weeks before coming back for a bottling workshop, and then leave it again for a final four weeks to let it do its thing. Not only can you enjoy your efforts at home, but if you get the brewing bug then Brew Club have their own brewing stations available to rent to carry on your craft beer creations.
