Bristol’s Best Winter Markets 2019

26 November 2019 | George Maguire

Spiced mulled wine; or even cider – this is Bristol after all. Anyone? Extra shot of Dissarono? Fancy a Bratwurst? Yes please. Winter markets offer us shelter from the cold and hopefully snowy streets. They are also an apt chance to catch up on Christmas beverages, meet friends and finish (or start) to tackle the ever pressing Christmas shopping. As you might expect, Bristol brings a solid selection of markets to the table – all of which have will deliver the moments of nostalgia, the hot toddies and glittering fairy lights that you have come to know and love…

Bristol Christmas Market
Bristol Shopping Quarter, Broadmead, Bristol BS1 1UX

With over 50 stalls, and situated in Bristol’s busiest shopping districts, this is a market that is near impossible to miss. The market has some unique aspects including ‘curling sessions’ on ice; just like in the Olympics, the option to send letters to Santa and the now prevalent feature of winter markets; the Jäger Barn Bar. A great one for all of the family.

This market is open from now until 23 December 2019.

Arnos Vale Christmas Market
Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust, West Lodge, Arnos Vale Cemetery, Bath Road, Bristol, BS4 3EW

An undeniably beautiful cemetery in its own right and well worth a days visit, Arnos Vale’s one day only market is free to visit. Proudly reflecting Bristol’s local craft purveyors, such as market mainstays Ginger Beard Preserves and Little Paisley Designs. This market is an excellent opportunity to practice what the Japanese call forest bathing, whilst avoiding the more mainstream festivities. One for the calendar! Check out the fascinating creative events space Paintworks if in the area.

This market is open 1 December 2019, 10am-4pm.

Bristol Harbourside Market
