A run down of places where you can get a little crafty this Christmas

It worked for your mum's presents when you were a kid, so why not now? We’ve put together a guide about making gifts in the capital this Christmas.

Drink Shop Do

Drink Shop Do is a café in the day, and a bar at night, hosting workshops, classes and even hen parties. This year, they have lots of great making events, including Christmas card making and Christmas bauble brush lettering (which includes tea and cake... yum!), perfect as gifts or for you to use to decorate your own house. You could even have a go at the ancient art of paper-cutting, choosing from a selection of gorgeous templates.

Sew Over It

Sew Over It have two studios, one in Clapham and one in Islington, hosting a range of sewing classes for beginners to experts. Everyone loves a tote bag, so why not have a go at making your own! For £50, this three-hour class will step-by-step, take you through how to make your own bag and decorate it beautifully. If you can’t make it down to the studio, there are also online classes and guides on how to sew other objects, from clothing to pillows.

The London Craft Club

The London Craft Club celebrates all things craft, providing a space where you can chill out and learn some new skills while chatting to like-minded people. This Christmas they are offering a range of workshops, including making a macrame wreath with dried flowers and Christmas calligraphy. Best of all is their bottomless baubles class - you'll get a glass of prosecco, unlimited hot drinks to warm you up and, of course, unlimited baubles to load with poms, feathers and sparkles. They also have a wide range of classes for next year already up online if you know someone who prefers their presents in workshop form.

Tea and Crafting

Tea and Crafting have a bunch of Christmas workshops to take part in. Their signature is a knitting workshop with a difference: using arm knitting, they will teach you to knit a giant blanket – really check out the picture! Or, improve your Christmas cards with some Christmas calligraphy so that your cards stand out this year. You can also learn to knit a bobble hat, for any cold-headed friends you want to find a gift for.
